The founders’ negligence further exacerbated his problems, as they were reluctant to provide their documents or simply impossible to reach after he left the home. The government, on one hand, talks about the importance of documentation for citizenship, but on the other, neglects the very individuals who face the most significant hurdles in obtaining these crucial documents. Care leavers, who have already faced adversity and are trying to carve out a path towards independence, should not be burdened with the weight of incomplete or non-existent documentation.
