समर्थ योजना के लिए कौन योग्य है?

एक बच्चा और/या एक युवा वयस्क जिसने अपना अधिकांश जीवन अनाथालय या बाल देखभाल गृह में बिताया है। एक बच्चा जो सरकारी नियमों के अनुसार 18 वर्ष की आयु में घर से बाहर निकलने वाला हो।

समर्थ योजना के लाभ

आफ्टरकेयर होम्स: इस योजना के तहत, राजस्थान के 33 जिलों में 30 Aftercare home चल रहे हैं और बाल अधिकार विभाग और राजस्थान स्टेट चाइल्ड प्रोटेक्शन सोसाइटी की मदद से गैर सरकारी संगठनों द्वारा चलाए जा रहे हैं। यह 18 वर्ष की आयु के बाद अपने घर से बाहर जाने वाले प्रत्येक बच्चे के लिए उपलब्ध है और 21 वर्ष की आयु तक रह सकता है। वार्षिक रूप से INR 54000 एक बार प्रति बच्चा (भोजन और आश्रय के लिए INR 4500 प्रति माह) जो अपने परिवार के साथ रहना चाहता है|

प्रतियोगी परीक्षा देने वाले बच्चों को सरकार फ्री कोचिंग देगी|यह उच्च शिक्षा के लिए एक बच्चे का समर्थन भी करेगा|
एक बच्चा सरकारी संबद्ध कॉलेजों से प्रत्येक के लिए 2 पाठ्यक्रम 3000 INR कर सकता है

The Samarth Yojana (Aftercare Scheme) was launched in Rajasthan, India, in the year 2020.The scheme was launched to provide aftercare homes for children who have aged out of Child Care Homes and are at risk of being homeless and vulnerable to exploitation. The scheme aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for these children to transition into adulthood and lead a self-sufficient life.

Who Qualifies For Samarth Yojana?

A child and/or a young adult who has spent most of his /her life in an orphanage or childcare home. A child who’s about to exit the home at the age of 18 years as per government rules.

Benefits Of Samarth Yojana 2020

1. Aftercare Homes: Under the scheme, there are 30 Aftercare Homes running in 33 districts of Rajasthan and are run by NGOs with the help of the Department of Child Rights and the Rajasthan State Child Protection Society. It is available to every child moving out of their home after the age of 18 years and can stay till the age of 21 years. Annually INR 54000 one time amount per child (INR 4500 per month for food and shelter) who wishes to stay with their family.

2. Basic Amenities: The aftercare homes are equipped with basic amenities such as food, shelter, medical facilities, and education. A care experienced youth will receive 7000 per month directly in his/her bank account (4500 INR per month for food & shelter and 2500 per month for food)

3. Vocational Training: Aftercare homes provides vocational training to help gain employment and become self-sufficient.

Government will provide free coaching to children taking competitive exam
It will also support a child for it’s higher education
A child can do 2 courses 3000 INR for each from a government affiliated colleges
To promote Self-employment and entrepreneurship. The Government will give out an amount of 1,00,000 INR not to run micro ventures but also to buy machinery. This amount is divided into two installments (the first installment will be 60% of the total price and the second installment will be the remaining amount
A child can also avail subsidized loan.

4. Life Skills Training: The scheme also provides life skills training to children, including financial management, communication skills, and job readiness.

5. Counselling Services: The aftercare homes provide counselling services to children to address their emotional and psychological need.

झीलों का शहर, उदयपुर में हमारी टीम द्वारा आयोजित भारत के पहले एवर आफ्टरकेयर सेरेमनी के सभी विवरणों को आपके साथ साझा करते हुए हमें बेहद खुशी हो रही है। फरवरी के महीने में हमारी टीम ने भारत में पहला समारोह आयोजित किया जिसमें 18 साल की उम्र के बाद चाइल्ड केयर संस्थानों से बाहर जाने वाले बच्चों का पहला कदम मनाया गया। यह समाज की मुख्यधारा में और CLiC परिवार में बच्चों का स्वागत करने का उत्सव था।

यह समारोह परित्यक्त या उपेक्षित बच्चों को बेहतर देखभाल और सहायता प्रदान करने की यात्रा में एक महत्वपूर्ण मील का पत्थर था। यह सफलता का उत्सव था कि ये बच्चे विपरीत परिस्थितियों के बावजूद हासिल कर सकते हैं। उन्हें समाज में एक सम्मानित जीवन जीने का मौका देकर, यह समारोह इन अनाथ युवाओं को केयर किट के वितरण का एक महत्वपूर्ण अवसर है। इस समारोह में गणमान्य व्यक्तियों और गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के सदस्यों ने भाग लिया जिन्होंने वर्षों से इन बच्चों का समर्थन किया है। इसमें शामिल सभी लोगों के लिए यह एक भावनात्मक लेकिन उम्मीद भरा दिन था क्योंकि हमने उनकी उपलब्धियों का जश्न मनाया और उनके भविष्य के प्रयासों के लिए उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दीं।

लक्ष्यराज जी द्वारा केयर किट वितरण

यदि आप पूछते हैं कि क्या मैंने सिटी पैलेस में होने वाले कार्यक्रम की परिकल्पना की है और समारोह का उद्घाटन उदयपुर के राजकुमार लक्ष्यराज जी द्वारा किया जाएगा, तो मैं जवाब दूंगा नहीं; हमारे कार्यक्रम में राजकुमार को देखना निश्चित रूप से मेरे और मेरी टीम के सदस्यों के लिए एक सपने के सच होने जैसा था। उन्होंने अपनी उपस्थिति से और उन बच्चों को 11 केयर किट वितरित करके कार्यक्रम की शोभा बढ़ाई जो जल्द ही चाइल्ड केयर होम से बाहर चले जाएंगे। उनकी उपस्थिति ने बच्चों को अपने लक्ष्यों की दिशा में काम करने और केंद्रित रहने के लिए प्रेरित किया। मेवाड़ के महाराजा द्वारा एक गाइडबुक – एक सचित्र पुस्तक का विमोचन भी किया गया था, जो 18 साल की उम्र में अपने बाल देखभाल घरों से बाहर निकलने के बाद बच्चे को मुख्यधारा के समाज में शामिल होने के लिए तैयार करती है। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने बच्चों को ऑफर लेटर भी सौंपे, जिनका एक प्रतिष्ठित होटल मैनेजमेंट इंस्टीट्यूट में दाखिला हो गया।

हमारे उत्सव में न केवल 11 बच्चों को किट का वितरण शामिल था, बल्कि उन युवा अनाथ युवाओं को देखभाल किट का वितरण भी शामिल था जो इस कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने में असमर्थ थे। हमारी टीम ने तीन अलग-अलग एनजीओ का दौरा किया और 10 बच्चों को केयर किट बांटी। जब उन्हें अपना केयर किट मिला तो मैंने उनके चेहरों पर कितनी खुशी और उत्साह देखा, उसे मैं शब्दों में बयां नहीं कर सकता।

We are thrilled to share with you all details of India’s 1st Ever Aftercare Ceremony organized by our team in the City of Lakes, Udaipur. In the month of February our team came up with a 1st of its kind ceremony in India celebrating the first step of children moving out of child care institutions after turning 18 years of age. It was a celebration to welcome children into the mainstream of society and to the CLiC family.

This ceremony was a significant milestone in the journey towards providing better care and support to children who have been abandoned or neglected. It was a celebration of success that these children can achieve despite the odds being stacked against them. By giving them a chance to live a dignified life in society, this ceremony marks a momentous occasion by distribution of care kits to these orphan youth. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and members from NGOs who have supported these children over the years. It was an emotional yet hopeful day for all involved as we celebrated their accomplishments and wished them luck for their future endeavours.

Why Care Kits Campaign?

The transition from the child-care home to living independently brings a host of difficulties for careleavers as they do not have any family support or any financial support to buy basic necessities. This is a sensitive age where almost 60% have not even completed their education. In order to survive they start doing menial jobs to meet their daily needs or some of them develop addiction issues and get involved in criminal activities.

The phone provided in the kit will help in completing their education through online distance learning programs, undertake skilling courses, apply for jobs, stay connected with their orphanages for support, etc. The other components of the kit are the basic daily requirements for helping them in early days when they are struggling to settle down and find a job.

Care Kit Distribution By Lakshyaraj Ji

If you ask if I envisaged the event taking place in the City Palace and the ceremony being inaugurated by the Prince of Udaipur, Lakshyaraj Ji, I would reply NO; seeing the prince at our event was definitely a dream come true for myself and my team members. He graced the event by his presence and by distributing 11 care kits to children who will soon move out of child care homes. His presence motivated the children to work towards their goals and stay focused. A Guidebook – a pictorial book which prepares the child to join mainstream society after stepping out of their child care homes at 18 was also launched by Maharaja of Mewar. During the occasion, he also handed out offer letters to children who were accepted into a prestigious Hotel Management Institute.

Our celebration included not only the distribution of kits to 11 children, but also the doorstep delivery of care kits to young orphan youth who were unable to attend the event. Our team visited three different child care institutions and distributed care kit to 10 children. I can’t put into words how much excitement and happiness I saw on their faces when they received their care kit.

Celebrating aftercare ceremonies and distributing care kits to orphaned youth is a great way to show them that they are not alone, and that they are valued members of the community. An important aspect of the aftercare ceremony is the distribution of care kits to those young people. Those who are falling out of the system. This gesture helps them feel supported and valued, and can make a significant difference in their ability to successfully navigate this transition.

गिरीश एक युवा व्यक्ति है जिसने 21 साल की उम्र तक जयपुर में एक child care institution में रहते हुए एक दशक से अधिक समय बिताया था। इसके बाद उसने child helpline 1098 में काम किया – बच्चों के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए समर्पित एक संगठन और वहाँ कई अन्य केयर लीवर्स के साथ बातचीत की, जिन्होंने अपने संघर्षों को साझा किया, जैसे आवास और भोजन हासिल करना, career सलाह प्राप्त करना, आदि। सीमित संसाधनों के साथ, गिरीश ने इसे अपने ऊपर ले लिया। समान परिस्थितियों में दूसरों की सहायता करना; इससे केयर लीवर्स के लिए एक आधिकारिक नेटवर्क बनाने की योजना विकसित हुई ताकि उन्हें यथासंभव सहायता दी जा सके|

अपने जैसे जरूरतमंदों की मदद करने की मानसिकता के साथ, उन्होंने अपने दोस्त के साथ एक child care institution संगठन- Careleavers Inner Circle Forum (CLiC) शुरू किया। CLiC औपचारिक रूप से नवंबर 2021 में एक Section 8 company, केयरलीवर्स के लिए और केयरलीवर्स द्वारा एक संगठन के रूप में शुरू हुआ। यह राजस्थान में UNICEF Team, Department of Child Rightsऔर Corporate Partner – Josh Community के साथ संयुक्त रूप से काम कर रहा है ताकि केयर लीवर्स को उत्तरजीविता से आत्मनिर्भरता तक समाधान और सहायता प्रदान की जा सके|

CLiC ने राजस्थान में अपना परिचालन शुरू किया और धीरे-धीरे भारत के अन्य राज्यों में चलेगा। राजस्थान में कुल 173 child care institution हैं जिनमें 3500 से अधिक बच्चे रहते हैं। हर साल 100 से अधिक केयर लीवर्स अकेले राजस्थान में अपने child care institution को छोड़ देते हैं। हमारा उद्देश्य उन्हें सरकार की पाश्चात्वर्ती देखभाल नीति से जोड़ना और उन्हें सभी आवश्यक सहायता प्रदान करना है ताकि वे आत्मनिर्भर बन सकें

Girish is a young person who had spent more than a decade living in a child care institution in Jaipur until the age of 21, when he moved out. He then worked at the Childline 1098 – an organization dedicated to protecting children’s Rights and while there interacted with numerous other careleavers who shared his struggles, like securing housing and food, obtaining career advice, etc. With limited resources, Girish took it upon himself to assist others in similar situations; from this grew a plan to form an official network for careleavers so that they may be given as much help as possible.

With the mindset of helping others like him in need, he along with his friend from child care institution started an organization-Careleavers Inner Circle Forum(CLiC). CLiC formally started in November 2021 as a Section 8 company, an organization for the Careleavers and by the Careleavers. It is working jointly with the UNICEF team in Rajasthan, the Department of Child’s Rights and Corporate Partner – Josh Community to provide solution and support to careleavers from survival to self -reliant.

CLiC began its operations in Rajasthan and will slowly move to other states in India. There are a total of 173 CCIs in Rajasthan housing over 3500 children. Every year more than 100 Careleavers leave their child care institution in Rajasthan alone. Our aim is to join them with the aftercare policy of the Government and provide them with all the required help so that they can become self reliant.

As a careleaver, it can be challenging to navigate the world without a support system. However, with the rise of technology and social media, it has become easier to connect with others who have similar experiences. This is where the concept of a careleaver network comes in. By utilizing the power of networking, Girish has formed a careleavers network that provides support, resources, and opportunities.

Firstly, networking allows careleavers to connect with others who have similar experiences. This can be incredibly valuable as it provides a sense of belonging and understanding. Additionally, networking can lead to new opportunities such as job offers, mentorship, and even friendships. These connections can be life-changing for careleavers who may not have had access to such resources otherwise.

Secondly, a careleaver network can provide access to resources that may not be readily available. For example, careleavers may struggle with finding affordable housing, accessing education, or obtaining employment. However, by networking with others who have gone through similar experiences, careleavers can learn about resources and support systems that can help them overcome these challenges. This can be especially important for those who may not have a strong support system in their personal lives.

In conclusion, networking can be a powerful tool for careleavers looking to form a community of support. आज का ब्लॉग व्यक्तिगत और प्रेरक है। स्वतंत्र जीवन में परिवर्तन किसी के लिए भी एक कठिन काम हो सकता है, लेकिन केयर लीवर्स के लिए यह विशेष रूप से चुनौतीपूर्ण हो सकता है। केयर लीवर्स ऐसे व्यक्ति होते हैं जो राज्य की देखभाल में रहे हैं, जैसे फोस्टर केयर या रेजिडेंशियल केयर, और अब परिवार के समर्थन के बिना वयस्कता में परिवर्तन कर रहे हैं।

भारत में हर साल 114,000 बच्चों को अपना child care institution छोड़ने के लिए मजबूर किया जाता है। 18 वर्ष की आयु में child care institution से बाहर जाने वाले बच्चों के संक्रमण का समर्थन करने के लिए कोई उचित व्यवस्था नहीं है। कुछ ही हफ्तों में, उन्हें शिक्षा के बिना अपने जीवन को शून्य से बनाने के लिए छोड़ दिया जाता है। कठिनाइयों का सामना करने के बावजूद, वे अब व्यवस्थित हैं और अपने जीवन में संतुष्ट हैं।

सविता 21 साल की हैं और 5 साल की उम्र से ही child care institution में रहती हैं। जीवन में काफी संघर्ष के बाद आज वह स्वतंत्र रूप से रह रही है और अपने दैनिक खर्चों को पूरा करने के लिए एक किताबों की दुकान में काम कर रही है।

सविता को 5 साल की उम्र में एक खोई हुई बच्ची के रूप में रिपोर्ट किया गया था जब छोटे बच्चों के लिए एक child care institution ने उन्हें भर्ती कराया था। 18 साल की उम्र तक पहुंचते-पहुंचते उन्हें 3-4 child care institution बदलने पड़े। 18 साल पूरे करने के बाद, वह एक महिला आश्रय में चली गईं जहाँ महिलाएँ अपनी बैचलर्स डिग्री और वोकेशनल ट्रेनिंग ली| उन्होंने उन लड़कियों के विवाह की व्यवस्था की जो अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी नहीं कर सकती थीं और बाहर जाने के लिए तैयार नहीं थीं। इसलिए, उन्होंने उसके लिए एक उपयुक्त वर ढूंढा और उसकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध उसकी शादी कर दी। शादी उसके लिए एक यातना थी जहां उसे नियमित रूप से पीटा जाता था और उसके पति द्वारा यौन उत्पीड़न किया जाता था।

Child care institution विजिट के दौरान, एक मित्र ने उसे CLiC का हेल्पलाइन नंबर दिया। वह टीम से बात करने में सहज महसूस करती थी क्योंकि सभी केयर लीवर्स थे इसलिए उसके लिए अपनी समस्याओं को साझा करना आसान हो गया। अनीशा(CLiC की सदस्य) ने परामर्श और आश्रय सहायता के लिए अपराजिता हेल्पलाइन के माध्यम से तत्काल सहायता दिलवाई।

CLiC टीम ने उसके लिए एक पीजी ढूंढा और उसे एक बुकस्टोर में जॉब दिलवाई, जहाँ वह 8,000 रुपये हर महीने कमा रही है।

आंशिक दृष्टिहीन संदीप की पढ़ाई में कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं थी। अपने child care institution को छोड़ने के बाद, उसे एक सुरक्षा गार्ड की नौकरी मिली जहाँ वे खुश नहीं थे। आज वह एक pharmaceutical company में काम कर रहे हैं जहां उन्होंने दो साल पूरे कर लिए हैं और बहुत अच्छा कर रहा हैं।

संदीप राजस्थान के सीकर जिले का रहने वाला है और अपने माता-पिता की मृत्यु के बाद अपने मामा के साथ रहता था। वह आंशिक रूप से अंधा था और स्कूल में सभी उसकी आँखों को लेकर चिढ़ाते थे।संदीप ने अंततः अपनी पढ़ाई में रुचि खो दी। उनके चाचा उनकी देखभाल करने में असमर्थ थे, इसलिए उन्होंने उन्हें जयपुर के child care institution में रखा।

संदीप ने धीरे-धीरे स्कूल जाना शुरू किया लेकिन वह शर्मिंदगी महसूस करता था क्योंकि वह अपनी कक्षा के सभी बच्चों से बड़ा था। उसने एक बार फिर स्कूल छोड़ दिया। 18 साल की उम्र के बाद उन्होंने नौकरी की तलाश शुरू की लेकिन शिक्षा की कमी और अपनी विकलांगता के कारण उन्हें एक दुकान पर सुरक्षा गार्ड की नौकरी मिली|

कठिन बचपन और परिवार न होने के बाद, राधा को अपने child care institution में एक ऐसा घर का माहौल मिला जहां वह सुरक्षित और खुश महसूस करती थी। 18 साल की होने के बाद, उसे पैसो की कमी के कारण अपनी शिक्षा पूरी करने के लिए संघर्ष करना पड़ा।आज वह Hotel Management का कोर्स कर रही है और shared accommodation में रह रही है|

राधा को 12 साल की उम्र में child helpline द्वारा बचाया गया था और उसे बाल देखभाल गृह भेज दिया गया था। Child care institution में, उसे सुरक्षित वातावरण मिला| उसे खुले हाथों से स्वागत किया। राधा जल्दी ही के माहौल में घुलमिल गई। वह नृत्य का आनंद लेती थी और अपने स्कूल के कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेती थी। उसे खाना पकाने में भी मज़ा आता था और वह अपने child care institution में रसोई में सहायता करती थी। 18 साल की उम्र में, उसके पास जाने के लिए कोई परिवार नहीं था इसलिए उसके child care institution ने उसे अपने आफ्टरकेयर होम में स्थानांतरित कर दिया।

Child care institution विजिट के दौरान CLiC ने राधा से मुलाकात की और पता चला कि वह अभी भी अपने child care institution में आफ्टरकेयर सपोर्ट के तहत रह रही थी। वह पढ़ने में बहुत रुचि रखती थी लेकिन पैसो की कमी के कारण child care institution उसकी सहायता करने में असमर्थ थी। उसकी रुचियों को देखते हुए CLiC ने सुझाव दिया कि वह अपने कौशल को विकसित करने के लिए hotel management में शामिल हो जाए। राधा ने एक साल के लिए hotel management कोर्स में दाखिला लिया। उसे कोर्स करने में मजा आता है|

सुनील के माता-पिता की मृत्यु HIV के कारण हुई थी और उसका निदान किया गया था। HIV बच्चों को लेने वाले child care institution को खोजने के लिए संघर्ष करने के बाद, वह आखिरकार एक घर में बस गए। वह electrician बन गया लेकिन खुश नहीं था। आज वह hotel management कर रहा है और यहां तक कि एक hotel में internship भी कर रहा है।

HIV/AIDS के कारण उसके माता-पिता की मृत्यु के बाद, सुनील और उसकी बड़ी बहन को भी इस बीमारी का पता चला। उस समय, महाराष्ट्र में HIV पॉजिटिव बच्चों के लिए कोई बाल देखभाल गृह नहीं था, इसलिए उन्हें child helpline के माध्यम से दिल्ली में एक HIV होम भेजा गया। सुनील child care institution में अच्छी तरह से समायोजित नहीं हो सका और कर्मचारियों के सामानों को चुराकर अपने सहपाठियों को बेचना शुरू कर दिया। उन्हें सद्वारा अन्य बच्चों से अलग किया जाना पसंद नहीं था। उसके बाद उन्हें जयपुर के एक child care institution में ले जाया गया। वह धीरे-धीरे यहां एडजस्ट होने लगा। उसने स्कूल में संघर्ष किया, लेकिन टेलीविजन, रेफ्रिजरेटर और अन्य मशीनों जैसे घरेलू सामानों की मरम्मत में रुचि विकसित की। 18 साल की उम्र के बाद उन्हें एक electrician की दुकान पर नौकरी मिली, लेकिन वह खुश नहीं थे।

उसे अपने child care institution के माध्यम से CLiC के बारे में पता चला और वह CLiC टीम के सदस्यों में से एक को दिल्ली के child care institution के समय से जानता था। उसके लिए अपनी समस्याओं को साझा करना आसान हो गया। हमने उसकी काउंसलिंग की और पाया कि वह अपने भविष्य को लेकर चिंतित है और अलग महसूस करता है। हम उनकी बड़ी बहन के पास पहुंचे, जो दिल्ली में रहती थी और child care institution वालो ने सुनील को अपनी बड़ी बहन के साथ रहने की अनुमति देने के लिए राजी किया|

इसी दौरान हमारी उनसे अच्छी जान पहचान हुई और पता चला कि उन्हें Hotel Management करने में इंटरेस्ट है। हमने उसे कार्यक्रम में एनरोल करवाया और 3 महीने के बाद, उसे एक hotel में internship के रूप में भी काम पर रखा गया।

Today’s blog is personal and inspiring. Transitioning to independent living can be a daunting task for anyone, but it can be especially challenging for careleavers. Careleavers are individuals who have been in the care of the state, such as foster care or residential care, and are now transitioning into adulthood without the support of a family.

Every year, 114,000 children are compelled to leave their child care homes in India. There is no proper system in place to support the transition of children moving out of Childcare Institutions at the age of 18 years. In a matter of a few weeks, they are left to build their lives from scratch without education. Despite the difficulties they encountered, they are now settled and content in their lives.

Let’s hear their stories

Savita is 21 years old and has lived in a child care institution since the age of 5 years. After a lot of struggle in life, today she is living independently and working in a bookstore to meet her daily expenses.

Savita was reported as a lost child at the age of 5 years when a childcare Institution took her in. By the time she attained the age of 18 years, she had to change 3-4 child care institution. After completing 18 years, she moved to a Women’s Shelter where women could complete their bachelor’s degree and get vocational training. They arranged marriages for the girls who could not complete their studies and were not ready to move out. So, they found a suitable match for her and got her married against her wish. The marriage was a torture for her where she was beaten regularly and sexually harassed by her husband.

During her visit to the shelter home, a friend gave her CLiC’s Helpline number. She felt comfortable talking to the team as all were careleavers so it became easy for her to share her problems. Anisha from CLiC got her immediate assistance through Aprajita Helpline for counseling & shelter support.

CLiC team found a PG for her and also got her placed at a Bookstore where she is earning Rs. 8,000 every month.

Partially blind, Sandeep had no interest in studies. After leaving child care institution, he got a job as a security guard where he was not happy. Today, he is working at a pharmaceutical company where he has completed two years and is doing very well.

Sandeep is from Sikar district of Rajasthan and lived with his paternal uncle after his parents death. He was partially blind and was teased by everyone in school about his eyes. Sandeep eventually lost interest in his studies. His uncle was unable to care for him, so he placed him in a child care institution in Jaipur.

Sandeep gradually began attending school but he felt embarrassed as he was older than all the children in his class. He left the school once again. After turning 18 years, he started looking for a job but due to lack of education and his disability, he got the job of a security guard at a shop.

CLiC came to know about Sandeep and provided him with mental support. We got him placed in Dawa Dost, a pharmaceutical company, where he earns 12,000 per month while improving his skills. Recently, he also received a 20,000 bonus for completing two years. He now inspires other Careleavers

After a troubled childhood and having no family, Radha found a home environment in her child care institution where she felt safe and happy. After turning 18 years, she had to struggle to complete her education due to lack of funds. Today, she is doing a hotel management course and living in a shared accommodation.

Radha was rescued by the Child Helpline at the age of 12 and she was sent to a child care institution. In her child care institution, she found a safe and secure environment which she welcomed with open arms. Radha quickly blended into the child care institution environment. She enjoyed dancing and used to participate in her school programs. She also enjoyed cooking and used to assist in the kitchen at her child care institution. At 18 years of age, she had no family to go to so her child care institution shifted her to their aftercare home.

CLiC met Radha during their visit to child care institution and discovered that she was still living in there under aftercare support. She was very interested in studying but due to a lack of funds the institution was unable to assist her. Seeing her interests, CLiC suggested that she join Hotel Management to develop her skills. Radha enrolled in a one-year Hotel Management course. She enjoys taking the course.

Sunil parents died due to HIV and he was diagnosed the same. After struggling to find a child care institution which took in HIV kids, he finally settled in a home. He became an electrician but was not happy. Today, he is pursuing hotel management & even doing an internship in a hotel.

After the death of his parents as a result of HIV/AIDS, Sunil and his older sister were diagnosed with the illness as well. At the time, there were no child care homes for HIV-positive children in Maharashtra so they were sent to a HIV home in Delhi through a child helpline. Sunil could not adjust well at the institution and began stealing staff items and selling them to his classmates. He disliked being isolated from the other children in home. He was then moved to a child care institutio in Jaipur. He began to slowly adjust here. He struggled in school, but developed an interest in repairing household items like televisions, refrigerators, and other machines. After the age of 18, he got a job at an electrician’s shop, but he wasn’t happy.

He had come to know about CLiC from child care institution and he also knew one of the CLiC team members from their time in the same Delhi home. It became easy for him to share his problems. We counselled him and discovered that he is concerned about his future and feels isolated. We reached out to his older sister, who lived in Delhi. She persuaded the child care institution staff member to allow Sunil to stay with her. During this time, we got to know him well and got to know that he had interest in doing hotel management. We got him enrolled in the program and after 3 months, he was even hired as an intern at a hotel.
